URBAN BUSH WOMEN SUMMER INSTITUTE PERFORMANCE @ THE KUMBLE THEATRE (BKLYN)

Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Artistic Director of Urban Bush Women, presents "We Are The Ones We've Been Waiting For!" This culminating performance of Urban Bush Women's Summer Institute is a celebration of art and activism with a cast of 60 dancers, musicians, singers and spoken word artists. Check out this years' up-and-coming modern/roots dancers at the showcase at The Kumble Theater/Long Island University. I think that I probably know half of the people in the show, but that's not the only reason you should check it out. They are all phenomenal and spirited dancers.

LAURYN HILL & SEAN KINGSTON @ WINGATE PARK (BKLYN)

Yes. Lauryn Hill is coming to Wingate Park to grace us with her (hopefully well rested) voice on Monday, August 6! Oh yeah, and Sean Kingston is performing too. ;) Too bad I will be out of town, but y'all should mos def check her out.

Peep her recent vid interview below. I still got mad love for Lauryn, although she has really been through it and it shows. As crazy as she may seem, she is actually stronger and more brilliant than ever before, like gold in the fire. I truly believe that when nobody understands who you are or what you are doing, then you've really reached that plane of a true visionary. Incomprehensible to any besides the most enlightened of souls. Go Ms. Hill!
