Remember Fela - One night of grooving Afrobeat celebrating the life of the Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti (1938 -August 2nd, 1997) that marks 10 years since his passing. Featuring The Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble - with a furious storm of thundering congas and the deep boom of the KALETA drum, the Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble takes the stage with an explosion of dance rhythms. 14 pieces make up this fully fledged funk factory. That means FIVE drummers, TWO guitarists, keys, bass, and a full horn section. Akoya is comprised of musicians from 6 countries, spanning 4 continents! The lead singer, Kaleta, performed and recorded with the legendary founder of Afrobeat, FELA KUTI for many years. With a three year history of refined grooves, Akoya released the debut album "Introducing the Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble." filled with 5 Killer tracks. Akoya's latest release is "B.F.B.F." b/w "Jeje L'aiye" the lead single for our upcoming album, P.D.P (President Dey Pass)
