Is Kamar Tachio Nigeria's Next Hausa-Speaking Music Sensation?

Home to rave of the moment (and revealer of underpants) Burna Boy, Nigerian music label Aristokrat Records is looking to strike gold once again, this time through fledgling singer Kamar Tachio. Born in Kaduna, northern Nigeria, Kamar brings more to the table than just a smooth voice. The MTN Project Fame alumnus is a massively talented multi-instrumentalist — drums, keyboard and guitar — a remarkable advantage on a Nigerian music scene where charlatans with very little depth become overnight celebrities.
Kamar debuted with It's Friday, a feel-good single produced by the phenomenal LeriQ. Riding the crests of a jangly instrumental tinged with elements of traditional Hausa music, Kamar channels the vocal-based R&B style of doo-wop and impresses all the way.
On Darling Darling, his brand new follow-up to It's Friday, Kamar revisits his nothern Nigerian background blending Hausa and English lyrics delivered in his easygoing vocal style to create a native-sounding love song worth several listens. Once again, LeriQ helms production. Stream/download the new single here.
