Makoko's 100,000 or so members know water and they know it well. The inhabitants of this precious fishing community that sits atop the Lagos lagoon endure some of the worst living conditions any human can face during the Nigerian rainy season, their houses rendered virtually inhabitable whenever there's a heavy downpour. Looking to mitigate his hometown's perennial problem, architect Kunle Adeyemi reached deep within himself and came up with a gem of an idea: a floating school/community center.
