When Martha Makuena and her husband Paul Levy migrated to China from Congo over a decade ago, all they wanted was peace and happiness. Little did they know that they would be pioneers of an ancient African art form in one of the world's busiest metropolises. Driven by purpose, the irrepressible couple opened Paulma Afro Hair Salon in Beijing's Central Business District last year, the first genuine African hair styling business in the Chinese capital.
 
Propelled by immigrants and locals alike, Martha and Paul's business is growing so fast that they are planning to open branches in two other major cities — Guangzhou and Shanghai — over the next few years. Watch their story unfold in the video interview below.
