The Rockefeller Foundation Announces Digital Jobs Africa
Over the last three years, the Rockefeller Foundation has been battling youth unemployment in Africa's growing information and communications technology (ICT) sector. Digital Jobs Africa is the next phase of the organisation's efforts in that line.
Digital Jobs Africa is a seven-year initiative that is targeted at transforming one million lives across six African countries with dynamic and growing services sectors —  Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, and South Africa — by providing ICT employment opportunities and skills training for high potential but disadvantaged African youth, thereby generating social and economic opportunities for those employed, their families and communities.
With a budget of almost $100 million earmarked for the project, the Rockefeller Foundation intends to partner with the private sector, government, civil society and the development community to leverage significant funds and align complementary programs in order to achieve its set objectives.
